Come move with us!

Improving Movement Through Bodywork, Education & Training

Located in the heart of Lamoille, we offer an integrated approach to improving your ability to move through life comfortably.  Our goal is to make your movement more effortless, efficient and fun!

Lamoille Movement Experiences

We create neuromuscular educational opportunites to improve body awareness while exploring movement capabilities.  Specific hands-on bodywork and focused training help to expand your movement possibilities.
We can work at our location or yours.  Our preference is to work in natural settings with minimal equipment so you can continue your personal self-care movement program on your own.

Please arrive with comfortable clothing and shoes, ready for athletic movements.  Most work is done fully clothed, but  we will provide medical gowns and/or professional draping if required.
We begin with an initial evaluation which helps establish current movement capabilities and establish your overall movement goals. Sessions will typically consist of a combination of evaluation, bodywork, movement and re-evaluation.  We try to sneak in the education.  One session per week is typical, but you set the pace based on your goals.

Why Lamoille?

After traveling this great country of ours in a 14' trailer looking for a place to establish a simpler lifestyle, we chose Lamoille.  It matched our needs well: rural, mountains, water, seasons, farming and great people.

Experiences?

Appropriate movement experiences invite our bodies to adapt and heal, counteracting the negative impacts of modern life.  Our movement dysfunctions typically arise from poor habits (misuse/abuse), not moving enough (disuse) and/or moving too much (overuse).  Many of us have "forgotten" how to move through nature - rolling, crawling, squating, hanging, walking, climbing, running, etc. - we just need some gentle reminders to get back on track.

Recover with us!

Recovery

Recovery, along with good nutrition, is key to making your movement efforts pay off.  Recovery can be active or passive.  Movement can tear us down (catabolic) if we go too hard or too long, which we often do on purpose to force an adaptation to overload.  Movement can also build us up (anabolic) when we move with our natural rhythms to help the body "pump", "flush" and "flow".  Active recovery, like somatic movement, is often under utilized in our society.   We tend to rely more on passive recovery, like massage.  We advocate using multiple different active and passive recovery approaches.  Besides providing such services, we educate our clients on different methods of self-care that they can use on their own.
If you are into buzzwords, here are some that inform our practice: craniosacral therapy (CST), myofascial therapy (MFT), unwinding, neuromuscular therapy (NMT) / reeducation, dermoneuromodulation (DNM), lymphatic facilitation, somatic movement, functional movement screening (FMS), functional/primal movement, posture training, gait training, Thai & Shiatsu massage,  corrective exercise, chronic pain education (Explain Pain), neck/trunk stabilization,  balance & coordination training, bio/psycho/social (BPS) model, breathing education, skills assessments/reeducation, orthotics, Morton's foot structure, improved foot biomechanics, minimal footwear, CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach 1, Tai Chi, Qigong, kettlebells, ..... and much more!
